ClamAV Engine Update

We do not use ME's spam filter but instead use XWall, which works great.
By not using ME's spam filter though the Spam button in Webmail does nothing of value
it seems.
If we install MXScan will the Webmail Spam button be integrated and useable
for those spams that still get through?

I do not recommend only one application for spam filtering. ME--on my server--is a secondary spam filter and what is truly used is the DNS Blacklists. MXScan takes care of the initial filtering.

Here's a potentially dumb question... I have ClamAV enabled, have run freshclam, but The service isn't running. I'm hesitant to try starting it, because previous posts (from years ago) talk about making exclusions.

How does one actually exclude files/folders??

If you have an antivirus program that runs a resident scan, exclude the queue folder and scratch folder. If you have a few users, you can ignore this, but if you have lots of users (like more than 50), then disable it as it will take longer for e-mails to process and can create other problems.
