[SOLVED] how to merge two mailboxes into one

Post by rdewild » Thu Jul 03, 2014 4:02 pm

Hello.
I have a user who recently got married and changed her name. We setup a new mailbox with her new name. But, I would like to "import" all her old email from her old mailbox into the new one. Is this possible?

Hi,

You will need to do this manually.

Copy from: Mail Enable\postoffices\(postofficename)\MAILROOT\(oldmailboxname\(foldername)\*.MAI files to Mail Enable\postoffices\(postofficename)\MAILROOT\(newmailboxname\(foldername)

Once you have copied the .MAI files create a _change.dty file and place the file within the folder you copied the files. The _change.dty is a .txt dummy file that can be created in Windows notepad. The file will force an index update when the users logs into their account and add the orphaned .MAI files to the index.xml file.

I went out on a limb and tried the same for the Draft and Sent folders and Contacts and it appears it worked like a charm.
Thanks!
