Send failed (error 10054).

Post by rozza6 »

Hi,

I have a customer using O365 with 7 mailboxes. The customer now wants to add an additional 12 mailboxes but doesn't want to pay the 12 subscriptions associated with O365 so I will be hosting these additional 12 mailboxes on my mailenable server for the same "maval.co.uk" domain. I have now configured the O365 Exchange server to forward mail to my server if the mailbox does not exist locally on the O365 exchange server, however I am receiving the following error as shown in the debug log within mailenable:

01/30/15 23:00:09 [828] Initializing SSL Conversation
01/30/15 23:00:09 ME-I0101: [828] Local Delivery: Address ([SMTP:test@maval.co.uk]) is local.
01/30/15 23:00:09 ME-I0149: [828] 80A13A8E1B5D4469927B93D43904B3EC.MAI was received successfully and delivery thread was initiated
01/30/15 23:00:10 [828] Send failed (error 10054). Size 50
01/30/15 23:00:10 ME-E0070: (recv) socket [828] error during [QUIT] command from host 213.199.154.13. Socket was disconnected - Error: (10054)
01/30/15 23:00:10 ME-I0074: [828] (Debug) End of conversation

I can't understand what's causing this socket error? Can anyone shed any light on this please, it would be very much appreciated?

Many Thanks

Paul

Its a connection drop for some reason. Are you running with greylisting?

Hi Scott,

Thanks for your reply. Greylisting is not enabled, however the mail is being delivered contradictory to the log info?

Thanks

Hi,

Seems to be trying to send over SSL. Have you configured a valid SSL certificate within MailEnable? Do other MailEnable services use SSL and work ok?

Hi,

The 10054 means the remote server dropped the connection. Size 50 is the size of the size of the data to send. This is just being logged since the remote server is just closing the connection after sending the email and not sending the QUIT command. The message was properly received:

ME-I0149: [2552] 50577E8A572B46ACAACBBF555E0E5D47.MAI was received successfully and delivery thread was initiated

So you can ignore the log error.

The problem is 50577E8A572B46ACAACBBF555E0E5D47.MAI disappear from hard disk.

I have and other Postoffice path D:\Postoffice

I think the mail arrive to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mail Enable\QUEUES\SMTP\Inbound\Messages\50577E8A572B46ACAACBBF555E0E5D47.MAI
But when not have QUIT, not move to postffice in
D:\Postoffice\mydomain.com\myaccount\Inbox\50577E8A572B46ACAACBBF555E0E5D47.MAI

Hi,

The filename can change as it goes through the server. You cannot use it to track messages from the SMTP. For tracking message, using the message tracking utility and enter the sender or recipient to show where the email went. It could have gone to the junk folder or have been removed/redirected by a filter. It did arrive since the MTA log indicates it picked up the file for processing. The MTA debug log should have more details than the extract you posted.
