Delete an unwanted email sent from disgruntled employee

Post by tmorg » Thu Jul 09, 2015 11:49 pm

Is there any way to delete an email sent from a disgruntled employee to a group that contains all other employees? This happens occasionally and would be nice if there was a quick and easy way to remove a specific message from all mailboxes. Any help would be greatly appreciate.

Hi,

No option to do within MailEnable. But a suggestion would be to write a script to do it. An example command below which can be run within Windows Power Shell:

Code: Select all

dir C:\Program Files (x86)\Mail Enable\Postoffices | Select-String '(message subject without quotes)' -L | move -dest 'C:\bad email'
The above will search the postoffices folder for messages containing the subject string in the message your trying to find and delete and then move them all to a destination folder where you can delete them. The problem is that you would need to also place a _CHANGE.DTY flag within each of the mailboxes folder where the message had resided to force an index update when they login and access the folder so that it no longer lists the message. Bit tedious but its a start.
