Personally, all my transitions (especially when you are going from 32-bit to 64-bit and that old of an OS to a much newer one) were manually done. What I do is install the newest and clean version of ME on a brand new server, make sure you have all the windows updates before installing ME, then create all the post offices and their accounts, match your ME settings from the old server to the new one, change DNS records, then finally move all the .mai files over from the old server to the new one. Be sure to remove the index files. You can do the cut over per domain to keep the transition as smooth as possible. I have been hired to do this for a number of companies.
