Split delivery with Exchange Online

Post by digitron »

Hello to all,

What are steps on ME side (enterprise 10.37) to properly set Split Delivery with other mail server?
Something like;
https://www.mailenable.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27136

in my case i have Office365 and ME. Problem is that when i send email from O365 to ME, i get
550 5.0.350 Remote server returned an error -> 551 This mail server requires authentication before sending mail from a locally hosted domain. Please reconfigure your mail client to authenticate before sending mail.

This is reasonable since users on ME has to be authenticated to send email, otherwise my server would be open for spammers.

Another question is how to route emails from ME to O365 users (except email forwarding to built in onmicrosoft.com domain).

Should i use smart relying in domain properties and set; "Act as smart host for inbound email to this domain" and " only relay email from authenticated users". Then in servers list, i should leave localhost as first and add remote server address as second? Is this correct?

Many thanks!
