AVG Version 6 will integrates with MailEnable using the default settings provided.

Grisoft recently revamped their product range and has changed their support and licensing reasonably significantly.

AVG Version 7 does not integrate with MailEnable professional correctly as it seems that some features are disabled when using the command line scanner (it is not obvious whether this is intentional or not). You can make it work using the AVG.EXE, however it is much slower and does not scan inside ZIP files.

If you edit the registry, you can make it work.

Set the following:

Code: Select all

Key name: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mail Enable\Mail Enable\Agents\MTA\Filters\MEAVGRI
Antivirus Agent: C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG7\avg.exe
Antivirus Parameters: "[AGENT]" "[FILENAME]" /ARC /NOMEM /NOHIMEM /NOSELF /EXT=*
We have currently confirmed this with both the Personal Version and File Server Version. (Both command line scanners appear to function the same).

Those keys should already be there. Are you sure your in the right place. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mail Enable\Mail Enable\Agents\MTA\Filters has to be there (without you creating it) - otherwise you should re-install pro.

I'm using AVG Email Server Edition, and i can't make work the filter, i followed the steps in the help but i get the message

There appears to be an error with the antivirus configuration. Please check your settings and make sure no resident scanner is active.

And the log file shows the following line:
02/28/07 10:58:37 LOG FILE STARTED
02/28/07 10:58:37 Loaded Plug-In Filter [MTAFILTER]

I thought that should say [AVG.....]

And of course it doens't detect the eicar virus when i send an email.

AVG command line scanner

Use the options provided by MailEnable above, but try the command "avgscan.exe" rather than just "avg.exe". You might also want to use /NOBOOT -- this skips scanning the MBR and boot sector.
