Clam performance question..

Post by FastFngrz »

Hey all! I've been using ClamWin for a while, but wanted to know if anyone has been able to improve the performance of the scanner. Each time it runs, it unpacks the signatures into a temp directory, scans the one email, then deletes the temp dir. (use the --debug switch on clamscan.exe to see) What a waste, given that I only download updates daily!

When my mail server receives 1.2 msgs/sec sec peak during the day, any lagtime kills performance.

Anyone know how to unpack 'em once and force ClamScan to use the unpacked version over and over again?

Clamd

You should start using Clamd as a client for Clam. There is a clamd pickup event for Mailenable available a few topics down in this forum, so you should look into that.
MailEnable plugins:
DKeyEvent - DomainKeys/DKIM
MESpamC - SpamAssassin integration

Clamdclient must have a ClamD daemon parter?

Post by FastFngrz »

And how does one go about getting a ClamD 'server' for the ClamdClient you have? Looks like a cool idea, but I'm entirely a Windoze shop.

ClamD server

Hi,

If you are entirely windows, you may try getting CygWin to run clamd. I heard some guys tried it and the performance is still very good.

How to integrate Clamwin with MAILENABLE

Post by activelobby.sim »

HELP PLEASE

I want help on integrating clamwin with mailenable

when i searche di got these steps
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Hot to install ClamWin with MailEnable (http://forum.mailenable.com/viewtopic.p ... v&start=15)

1. Download and install ClamWin (I used 0.35.2)
Available at www.clamwin.org
2. Install to "C:\Program Files\ClamWin"
3. Change the logfile to somewhere nice.
4. Create the directory "C:\Program Files\ClamWin\VirusDB" and change the ClamWin setting.
5. Download the latest virus defs using the program.
6. Import the registry file (enables ME to use the scanner).
Available at www.publicplanet.com\MEFilter\ClamWin\MEAVCLM.Zip
7. Add the entry "MEAVCLM" to the list of processing order.

Do this by using RegEdit and changing the key:

"HKLM\Software\Mail Enable\Mail Enable\Agents\MTA\Filters\Processing Order"

This is a comma seperated list, you can put it wherever you want.

8. Using the ME Administrator program configure any required options.
9. Restart the MTA process.
10. Press the "Test" button
No results should be returned in the window, but the message "Command line scanner returned: 1" should be at the bottom of the window.

And thats it.
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

But i am not able to locate www.publicplanet.com\MEFilter\ClamWin\MEAVCLM.Zip
inorder to proceed.
Please help me

Regards
Sim
