MESMTPC.EXE crash on high volume

Post by mkoch7811 »

Running ME 8.60 standard on Windows 2012 R2, the MESMTPC.EXE application crashes while processing a large volume of incoming messages (4000+), which is causing data loss. The messages themselves are small (under 5k).

Initially suspected McAfee, so I excluded the entire MailEnable folder from scanning (based on info I found in another support article here), then also disabled the McAfee services.

Sample from event log:
Faulting application name: MESMTPC.EXE, version: 1.0.0.59, time stamp: 0x54eff6ce
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.3.9600.17736, time stamp: 0x550f4336
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000000000005473b
Faulting process id: 0x15d0
Faulting application start time: 0x01d0a7bd3e72d375
Faulting application path: D:\MailEnable\Bin64\MESMTPC.EXE
Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll

From the debug log:
06/15/15 17:45:21 ME-I0149: [816] €U was received successfully
06/15/15 17:45:21 InboundMessageDeliveryProc raised an exception.
The exception occurred in : SMTPInboundMessages.cpp, line 4052

The virtual server was built with only 4 GB of ram, which I've just increased to 8 GB, but it didn't really appear to need it (usage was only 1.6 GB during normal processing). Any other ideas or suggestions?

Thanks,
Mike

I am also haveing the problem.
I am continually having problems with the SMTP Service crashing. I have looked in the Debug logs and am finding that I am getting this error: "Not enough memory to send message now. Try reducing send threads. Retrying. Error: 12."
I currently have 12Gbs of ram in this server. How much do I need to have in the server to keep from having this error or what settings do I need to change to fix this problem.

Hi,

Can you confirm exactly how to fix this issue?

We have the same errors with ME Standard 9.51 and ME Professional 8.61.

Thanks a lot,
