Hi,

What version of MailEnable Enterprise are you running? If older than 9.75 then please update as there have been fixes to the migration utility.

What happens with the migration utility when we have a pair of clusters servers? Is one only run? If I start the migration service on one box, the other turns off.

The same error occurs in the latest version. I can open a telnet window and telnet to port 143 without issues, but the migration utility does not migrate. It gets the data, but then passes this error and thats it. It states nothing was moved.

I'm using the standard version 9.75 and it does the same for me as well. I discovered, however, that if you enter the old server configuration and enable it, connecting the old account to exactly the same named accounts in the new server, then as soon as you log in to the new server, it uses those credentials to log into the older server and starts a migration. I believe it mentions this process in the migration tool.

However, every mailbox seems to start to download and then states it can't connect, then starts a few seconds later, gives a small percentage and then says it can't connect again. I have no idea what it's doing, but I'm only loading 4 mailboxes right now, it's been almost 18 hours and one of the boxes has progressed to 47%.

I'm not sure why it constantly resets the connection, I'm under the impression that any changes to the data causes the reset. I'm still delivering emails to the original server and the users are still using the original. My plan was to complete as much of the migration as possible before switching the users to the new server. But this is taking forever and I have many more inboxes to migrate.

How do we migrate if the remote server uses the full email address as the username?

You can use the migrate utility as was recommended. I have always done it manually by creating the accounts, changing the DNS to point to the new server, and then move their emails, contacts, and calendars into the new server (via FTP or copy and paste). This guarantees that everything works; it just takes longer.
