URGENT - catch all not working after update v10.15
URGENT - catch all not working after update v10.15
I noticed (and also my clients) that the catch-all does not work after we did a update to Enterpise version 10.15
Also we cannot send mail to the domain with the catch all enabled; it's a local postoffice but we get still the message about 503:
host mail.[domain][IP] said: 503 This
mail server requires authentication when attempting to send to a non-local
e-mail address. Please check your mail client settings or contact your
administrator to verify that the domain or address is defined for this
server. (in reply to RCPT TO command)
All other (local) domains on the same server are not giving any problem. We have removed the postoffice and reboot the server. Then created again the postoffice... still the same. A ping to the mail.[domain] returns the right IP.
We can use webmail but no sending or receiving...
Sending to any other non existing email address within the same local postoffice will also result in the error.
UPDATE 19/5/2018: we have installed on another VPS MailEnable Standard with only the domain which gives the problem. The domain which has the catch all enabled. After making the neccessary changes in the DNS all mail is going throught that server.
It seems to work fine; mail is receving from outside the domain, mail can be send to any email address in that domain. We noticed it was an update v10.16
So we did on our principal mail server also an update to v10.16 On this principal mail server we made a test postoffice with a catch all enabled.
Unlucky this is still not working.
Sending a mail to any existing mail box on that test post office will go as expected.
Sending a mail to any not exsisting email adress in that post office will not succeed.
In the SMTP log files we see the message handeld by the catch all. But no message received on the inbox.
In the SMTP inboud queue we see these message. Looking in detail we noticed that there is no recepients declared in the message. The status = spooling but it also said: No send attempt yet. Perhaps because there is no receipient?
So what is the problem? And more important what is the solution?
Please advice..
with regards
Walther

Re: URGENT - catch all not working after update v10.15
Hi,
I have tried emulating locally in 10.16. I do not experience the same problems. I set a catch-all for the domain then send a message to a non existent mailbox in that postoffice. The catch-all caught the message. Might be best lodging a support ticket and providing access to the server so a tech can check the relevant log files and configuration in more detail.

SOLVED: Re: URGENT - catch all not working after update v10.15
The cause of this problem was an update of Magic Spam 2.1-4.1
After submittuing a ticket to MailEnable they were able to fixt this. But the cause lies by the update of Magic Spam.
thanks again for the quick response and help from MailEnable support

Re: URGENT - catch all not working after update v10.15
how did you fix it, reinstall magic spam or did they released an update ?
SOLVED: Re: URGENT - catch all not working after update v10.15
it depends the message in the debug smtp logfiles:
if it's like this:
06/09/18 11:24:33 ME-I0102: [1924] Address ([SMTP:abc@[domain]]) is to be delivered to Catch-All address.
06/09/18 11:24:34 SMTPMsgDATAEND raised an exception.
The exception occurred in : SMTPInboundMessages.cpp, line 4722
AND you are using Magic Spam (version 2.1-4.1) there is a hotfix avaible on:
[supplied by support at mailenable.com]
Be aware that it is a solution as is... no guarantee
With us it solved the problem..
If the message in the debug smpt logfiles is not the same then submit a ticket to support...
good luck

https://www.mailenable.com/hotfix/mesmtpc_64.zip
To install:
1) Stop the SMTP service
2) Rename the MESMTPC.EXE file in the Mail Enable\bin64 directory (this will allow you to roll this fix back)
3) Extract the zip file to the Mail Enable\bin64 directory
4) Start the SMTP service
