[SOLVED] Messages missing a valid messageId header are not\n5.7.1 accepted.

Post by poweredge »

I've created a Group alias which forward email to various local users. However when user replied to the original sender with Outlook, their message got rejected by Gmail and received message with error " Other mail system problem 550-'5.7.1 [219.76.94.38] Messages missing a valid messageId header are not\n5.7.1 accepted"

May I know what's causing the problem? Some says SPF required in order to prevent this? Many thanks in advance.

Is there a way to force adding a Message-ID Header to all emails send to Gmail?

Hi,

Within the SMTP properties under the "Advanced SMTP" tab do you have the option for "Add required headers for authenticated senders if needed" enabled? Please see: https://www.mailenable.com/documentation/10.0/Enterprise/Advanced%20SMTP.html

Thanks Ian for the tips.

Btw, the user who's replying email to Gmail is using third party broadband provider's SMTP, instead going through their own SMTP.

Therefore, I can confirm this may not be the solution.

Instead, I strongly suspect SPF plays a major part in Gmail's acceptance as one of the domain has SPF without any problem, but the one without has the above problem.

I would add SPF to see if this solve the problem and shall get back soon.

Update:

After adding the SPF record, email sent to Gmail third party SMTP STILL GOT BOUNDED BACK with the Same error message.

Then the problem was solved after changing to it's own domain SMTP.

So the reason is obvious now, Gmail blocked all suspicious email that pretend to send from a third party, using the domain's own smtp solved the problem.
