AVG Antivirus

I see AVG is now listed in the antivirus under " MTA ".
I select AVG, Apply it and exit " MTA "...
If I go back into " MTA " the selection is back on F-Prot...
Any ideas... Thanks Doug... :(

This is most likely confusion over how the interface works - something that we are working on  . Selecting an A/V plugin in the combo box allows you to configure its properties - and is not intended to make it active. The Enabled check box within the frame under the combo box activates and de-activates respectively.

Start by checking your MTA Activity logs for:
LOG FILE STARTED
Loaded Plug-In Filter [MEAVxxx]

Stop and start the MTA service to generate these lines. If they appear in the log, ME will pass all (except text-only without attachment) messages through your AV software.

To see if your AV software will catch a virus:
1. You can create or download (http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm) the Eicar test file. You'll have to store it in a folder or on a disk that does not have real-time virus checking. A floppy would work well.

2. Send an email through your server with this Eicar test file as an attachment.

3. Examine the AV log file (if one exists) or your MTA Activity log for evidence of detection. The MTA Activity log entry will look like this:
Virus Alert (Removal) - Message [63BA198C9036485D95E85620F96F71.MAI] Connector [SMTP]

I stopped and restarted the MTA service.

In the log file, I can see

Loaded Plug-In Filter [MEAVGRI]

I took the file from Eicar.com and sent it to my e-mail address but I don't see an special entry in the MTA activity log about Virus alert

What have I to do ?

I don't know if it's important but AVG was installed before MailEnable.

Many thanks for your help ! I'm lost !

The same problem

we have the same problem, apparently mailenable does not take the errorlevel that returns avgscan.exe when executing itself. what we can do in this case? and there is no option in the command line in avgscan.exe so that it eliminates the infected file.
please help!

AVG Server edition will Clean the file when it is created on the server. I run it this way with the standard edition of ME. It just won't generate a return e-mail for it this way. But hey, if it's someone you know... They shouldn't be sending you viri anyways!

One year later... mailEnable plugin for AVG still does not parse avgscan.exe commandline output as it should. :(
I tested AVG 7.0 installation, I put mailEnable MTA service into debug mode, and it DETECTS all viruses!
But the problem - looks so - remains in mailEnable WRONG PARSING of avgscan.exe output!
