I would like to integrate an antivirus program to scan my messages and discard them if they contain a virus.
I currently do not have anything setup. I am not a fan of Symantec, and am wondering what are the best options available for this?
Mcafee? F-Prot?
Are there any other good posts to read up on configuring this?
I find these forums hard to obtain decent search results.
Thanks,
Gary

Gary,
We've been using F-Prot for about a year now, and are happy with it for the size mail server we are running. We only process about 1000 messages per day, but the box has other responsibilities and the CPU purrs along at about 25% with no performance issues. The machine is a Celeron 2.4GHz with 1GB of RAM.
We bought the single-computer license (about $30/year) and configured MailEnable to use the command-line version of F-Prot as per MailEnable's knowledgebase. Updates are automatic and reasonably trouble-free. I wouln't imagine this method would work very well for a very large e-mail server with hundreds of domains or thousands of users, but it works fine for us with a few hundred addresses and about twenty domains.
I'd be interested to hear performance statistics from other users...

I have seen F-Prot running pretty well on a machines with thousands of domains and around 10,000 mailboxes.

I host 200 domains with few 1000 mailboxes, appr. 20.000 mails/day, and I use McAfee. Works pretty good.
