Bayesan Filters Problem
Bayesan Filters Problem
Hello,
I have a problem with Bayesan Filters.
It was activated but, after a few hours i see that the SMTP inbound is full and does not work.
So i need to put down the filters, restart the services (SMTP, MTA, etc) and wait that SMTP will deliver those messages.
What can be the problem? this is happening every day and i need to stop spam some how.
Thanks in advance.

Make sure you are running the latest kit and also ensure you are not running a pick up event and that your MTA threads are set to one. Or if you dont want to reduce threads disable the AV. I have not seen any instances where this is attributed to Bayesian. Could you please supply more why you think it is Bayesian.

Hi and thanks for your reply.
I think it's bayesian because when i disable it, it's working fine.
Since we can't deactivate antivirus (is not the best thing to do) how many threads do you think we need?
We have something like 2500 mailboxes per server.
I installed 2.09 because when i did an upgrade to 2.1 the smtp stop every 3 seconds, so i installed again version 2.09.
Please see http://forum.mailenable.com/viewtopic.p ... highlight=
PD: i'm not running pickup event.
Thanks

Mmm in that case I think we will have to view more about this;
Can you please lodge details at
http://www.mailenable.com/support/step1.asp
You may like to send through a link to download smtp activity, debug logs - MTA logs - filter logs for the day it stops. Along with all details you are aware of.
It may also be easier if you send through remote desktop connection details via this secure link;

Lodge it as a defect classification, with all the relevant information. I would like this one tracked in the support system.

As a defect it doesn’t ask you to pay unless you have a tick in this box;
Submit this as a paid request. Click for more information on this selection
Are you saying that you are entering defect and it is asking you to pay?

Bayesain filter not very easy
Hi
I think the MailEnable should have update service for the spam filter, as alot of other systems have this feature.
I use the Bayesain and MEFilter together to stop spam.
But the filter in MailEnable is a slow learner.
SO a bigger dictorary by default or a streaming update service would be nice and i think more acurate, as you can also get input from all your users on there spam stats, IE for a really big dictionary.
Other wise nice product but the upgrade to 2.x is really lacking feature only 2 or 3 big feature included.
PS the .net webmail is very nice.

We have thought about implementing a subscription service where we run a global update dictionary list. Of course this helps with SPAM but is not so good for HAM as every server and domain sends different types of mail.
There are some changes on the way that should help the Bayesian learning process and in the blocking of spam.
As for the feature set included in Ent too true it was talked about but I think anyone who has been with the product for quite some time would attest that features in MailEnable are continually being added between versions rightly or wrongly. Not to mention that the break out into two products occured around this time which changed things a bit.
We may change this company style for the next version so the update is an even bigger hitter but the features that people desperately want yesterday will be delayed.
Thanks for your comments - glad you like.
