whitelisting

I would like to find a way to automaticly Whitelisting the email address that my user send to...

I read this is possible to do with Entreprise 2.37...

Any Idea?

I didn't know it was possible. Let me know when you find out! I know you can manually add IP addresses.

You can do this using the domain name/email address in MEFilter, but not via the IP address.

yes but this ia a manual entry...

I would like this entry to be automatic...

Users get new contact every day and it is hard to enter it manualy

MEFilter has "AutoWhitlisting" where you can define that all outgoing email addresses are added to the whitelist.

For the record, the reason I did not do it for IP is that I would need to go do a lookup for the domain while processing the MTA event, which is something that should really be done during the SMTP process.

You can find the auto whitelisting feature in the SMTP Properties->Whitelisting tab. It is the new feature at the bottom of the TAB.

Once enabled each IP connected to by your server for an outbound connection will be added to the whitelist. The theory is that every person you send an email to is a valid non spamming contact and should there fore be able to send to your server without any filtering.

I can not find it in Entreprise 2.37...

Hi, sorry I did not read the complete post the auto white listing of IPs is only available in version 3. The whitelisting of IPs in the version 2 can be completed as was earlier mentioned only with a manual procedure.

There are some VB scripts on the MEFilter forums under the "Scripts and Other Useful Stuff" area.
One of them is an autowhitelisting script.

I don't know if you can get there without registering in that forum though. What this script does is take the TO address out of mail and puts it in a list (a txt file). You would need to use this in conjunction with the filters function built into mailenable.

To make my whitelist I made a filter that when a user authenticates to send mail, the filter executes the vb script and then stops processing filters(presumably if they are authenticating, the mail is legit and you want to capture the TO address for your whitelist). Then right above my set of spam filters I put in a whitelist filter. The filter checks if the FROM address against the list of addresses in my whitelist and if it matches, it stops processing filters, thus stopping it from going through the spam filters. In this scenario to whitelist an email address all you do is send a message to it.

Ok, I found it and I want to disable it. So I uncheck it and click on APPLY or OK.
I close the window.

When I go back... there it is again! CHECKED! :roll:

How can I disable it if it keeps re-enabling by itself?

There is a problem here thanks for the heads up. The next minor release after 3.03 will have this included, it may make 3.03 but not likely as this version is currently being tested.

If you want to disable it before then please change the following registry value to 0;

HKLM->Software->MailEnable->MailEnable->Connectors->SMTP->

Whitelist Outbound IPAddresses

If you disable it try not to change any settings in the Properties of the SMTP after this as it could overwrite the registry change.

If I send a message to a very well known domain (ie: hammer@aol.com), then the IP of aol.com will be added in the whiltelist.
If a spammer is forging the sender address with aol.com domain name (ie: spammer@aol.com), or using aol.com servers, won't he pass throught the filters ?
