I'm on version 2 of ME Pro, and have been for years (and version 1 before that). I have had very few problems with the mail server, but lately some of my clients complain that users have problems mailing them.
First off the problems were mainly with GMail (connection timeout), but now I have problems with other mail servers reporting connection timeout when trying to connect to my server.
I can't see anything in my SMTP logs, so I'm at a loss.
How many incoming concurrent connections do you allow on your server? My SMTP log is about 5-7 MB each day (to give you an idea on the amount of mails going in).
Thanks in advance,
Steen
SMTP incoming problems?
Ok, I think I've found one of the entries in the debug log:
10/05/07 12:16:14 ME-E0069: (recv) socket [892] disconnection from host 64.233.166.182 before any command received. Error: (10060)
What is this error 10060 ?? I get quite a lot of these. It doesn't look like an error on the server?? And what I have read about 10060, doesn't really match with gmail's servers (can hardly claim them to be spammers).
Thanks in advance,
Steen

I had a similar problem recently on a Windows 2003 server and it was solved by lowering the MTU value for TCP/IP connection.
I can't locate the source where I found the setting to change but I know I searched the Microsoft website for MTU to find it. If I locate it again I will post back.
Cheers,
Brett

Thank you! I really appreciate it!..
To try something desperate, I installed the new version 3. It's installed on another computer, on another network and behind another firewall, so not really a indicator, but no problems yet.
I'm getting mails from gmail, so that's good. I guess I might try and install version 3 on the server with problems and cross my fingers. If it doesn't help, I'm back to square one!
Thanks,
Steen

If it is a problem with the MTU settings then you will find in the MailEnable SMTP activity logs there are lots of inbound connections that are failing on the DATA command. The message will timeout on the DATA command and the inbound message will not have a QUIT.
This will usually mean that the remote server is not sending any DATA and both ends are waiting for the other to answer and when nothing happens the connection times out.
Here is some help with the MTU;
