import contacts does not work

Post by » Mon Nov 19, 2007 12:19 pm

i'm working with ME PROFESSIONAL v3.02.

now, i'm trying to import contacts using ME webmail -> 'contacts' -> 'import contacts', but whatever i do, the error 'IMPORT FAILED!' appears.

i downloaded 'MEContactMGR' as well, but i'm not able to drag&drop any contacts.

so, how i will be able to import contacts (without RDP-access to the node)? i prefer to use webmail for import process.

thank you,

Export your contacts from outlook using a windows CSV format. Then use the import feature to import to web mail it should work. If not then submit a support request via the MailEnable web site and we will check your CSV file. Send it through zipped with the ticket and we will test here.

Also make sure you are running the latest MailEnable release for your version.

thank you for reply!
i just performed an update to the latest ME prof. version 3.04.

it's quite strange. i got a CSV built in outlook 2007 (english), which i could import sometimes and sometimes not.

after i created another CSV in my outlook 2007 (german) again, but this import failed everytime i tried.

i will send you the file.
thank you.

To import your contacts from Outlook, follow these steps:

Exporting Contacts:

In Outlook, select FILE
Select EXPORT TO FILE > Next
Select COMMA SEPARATED VALUES (DOS or Windows) > Next
Select CONTACTS > Next
Name your file > Next
I went ahead and deleted the columns from the CSV file that are not needed. All that is needed is:
(and this will work for any export tool form most any client or if you manually create your file)

Fields are:
First Name, Middle Name, Last Name, Company, Department, Title, Business Phone, Home Phone, Mobile Phone, E-mail Address

The field names MUST be exactly as I have posted; however, none of the are "required".

Now you are ready to import:

Log into your new MailEnable account
Load the CSV file you just created and click ADD
Name any necessary adjustments to your list.

Thats it!
