How to change Greylisting message?

Post by labsy »

where can I change Greylisting return message? Curently it says:

452 This server employs greylisting as a means of reducing spam. Please resend e-mail shortly.

But since only humans can read, the instructions are WRONG - humans should NOT resend message! Mail server should.

So, better instructions could read:

452 This server employs greylisting as a means of reducing spam. Message will be delayed and resent automatically, so you have nothing to worry about.

I have created an issue for this in the register to make the returned error information more client friendly.

You are actually wrong. The only time a human would see this message is if the human was telneting directly into the remote SMTP server to send a message. Since the human saw the message, and is not using a mail server to do the sending, the human would need to retry the message in a few minutes from the telnet prompt again (like a server would).

This aside, I would like the functionality to change the greylisting message to something else of my own. Yahoo does not tell you what it's doing; it gives you a busy 4XX message. I don't like advertising that I am greylisting.

You would see the message in a client if you were receiving temporary retry errors which is a feature in MailEnable.
