so many problems after installing assp

Post by afg786 »

Hi,

I just got ASSP installed on my windows server runnking plesk 8.3 and mailenable 3.5 enterprise (i pugraded ME Ent from 2.37 to 3.5 as well). for some times it was working fine and suddenly some of my clients are complaining that they cannot send email but can recieve emails.

Task 'name@domain.com - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC0D) : 'Cannot find the e-mail server. Verify the server information in your account properties.'

What could be the possible cause? How to fix it?

I believe ASSP is somehow blocking or the server itself is blocking connections from certain IPs.

Other problems i am facing are:

- PAsswords does not work for emails. Have to reset them to work.
- The migration did not go th rough properly. all user made folders and sent item folder was not migrated.
- cannot browse most of the domains from my network.

my guess would be inaccurate config in ASSP. Please verify that you're relaying your email to MailEnable properly and your authentication settings in ASSP are right

Turn ON (nolocalDomains)
Make sure you are listening and relaying (Destination) on separate ports.

You can also manually enter your Local Domains in the ASSP-Local-Domains.txt (localDomains)

Look at the log files for ASSP to see if the connections are being denied. If DNSBL is used I have seen this happen.

Or it could be a crappy migration of ME altogether, or Plesk interaction.

crappy migration

Post by afg786 »

yeah.. i guess it was a crappy migration.. problems fixed now however some of my clients get the following error when sending emails:

MailEnable: Message could not be delivered to some recipients.
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

Recipient: [SMTP:name@domain.com]
Reason: 554 5.7.1 too frequent connections for 'my_server_ip_address'

Any idea? Is this problem with my mailenable or remote server?

This is a setting in your IP Blocking in ASSP... check your settings.

ASSP on which server?

Both the server sending (with mailenable) and the server recieving (linux server) has ASSP installed. Where do i need to check this? sending or recieving server?

Your clients are connecting to a server using ASSP. Whatever server your clients are connecting to is the server that needs to be checked.

Basically if a single organization in a single building has say 500 employees all trying to send email at the same time on the same IP address... ASSP is going to think that this IP address is spamming your server and needs to be blocked.

You need to adjust the settings, but don't be to liberal or spammers WILL exploit it.

that problem is solved now but a new problem popped out, i have one domain which is hosted on a different server but its emails are hosted in this windows server of mine. All spf records, mx records are fine but sometimes when sending email the user gets the following error:

MailEnable: Message could not be delivered to some recipients.
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

Recipient: [SMTP:name@amifrance.org]
Reason: Remote SMTP Server Returned: 451 4.1.8 Possibly forged
hostname for 7X.5X.8X.8X

I think you are going to be better off posting these issues in the ASSP forums.
