Change default lenguage in webmail

Post by Tomás »

Sorry for the possible off-topic but I don't find exactly what I need.

¿It's possible to change de default lenguage that appears in the loggin page of webmail?

-In my case I need to set spanish language by default when accesing the first time to the log page.

-In the MailEnable Management console > Servers > Localhost > Services > WebMail > Hosts, I can see settings and change some parameters for the host: HostName: MEWebmail.localhost // IP Addres: 127.0.0.1 // port: 80 // Base: default // Skin: Aqua // PostOffice: ***** // and Language: "es"

When double clic de host, in his properties, I can change the language skin and the other option except the -base- because his combobox have only one option to select: "default"

I'm using aspx (.net) webmail plattform

¿could you explain me how to set a different lenguage than english "by default" for the fist time access to loggin page, without select "Remember my settings for this computer"?

Sorry for my poor english and thank you very much in advance.

If you configure your web sites to use the host header environment ie not access via domainname/mewebmail but mail.domainname.com then you can configure this in the following location;

ME Admin MMC->Servers->Localhost->Services->Webmail (in right hand panel you will see a host header for any environment, right click on this and get properties then set the language you want to load by default.)

For more information on configuring host headers for your web mail sites please check the MailEnable manual.

Not using mail.domain host header

Post by Tomás »

I'm using domain/mewebmail host name.

I have installed ME Pro 2.37 last week in production enviroment and purchased the new license but not still activated, having a license key for Pro 1.8x for 3 years.

I found this article (http://www.mailenable.com/kb/Content/Ar ... D=me020165) and as it indicates, there are one application named MELangTranslator.exe in bin directory.

The last paragraph in this article says explicit:

You can apply the translations as you go and review the results in a browser. The utility has a button that will set the current language used by web mail. This button is labelled as "Set this Language As Default for Web Site". This will modify MailEnable's web mail to ensure that the language being worked on is shown (rather than English) when accessing

and

The language utility is found in the Mail Enable\bin directory when either MailEnable Professional or Enterprise 2.0 is installed. The program is called MELangTranslator.exe.

I execute this program but this button don't exist

¿Why?
¿any other tip please?

It's very important for us, because this is the post office for a City Council (Marbella / Spain) and it is very bad for us that english is the default language.

Consider that the first reason (not only) for updating and purchase pro 2.37 is the webmail language issue or earlier versions.

Thank you

There is no answer for some of my three questions in ten days?
umm, perhaps it's very hard or not easy to answer that I'm questioning?

as you can understand, this is not a trivial question for us and this is my first question posted here in tree year since we have a mailenable license for ME Pro.

Thank you.

Hi,

As Ben has mentioned in his earlier reply. If you would like to set a default language for the website you access webmail on, then the only way to configure this in the Professional version of MailEnable is to create hostheaders. Information on how to create hostheaders can be found in the MailEnable documentation.

If require to set a default langauge using the virtual directory configuration for your sites then you will need to upgrade to the Enterprise version of MailEnable which conatins more advanced options in regards to setting deafult langauges and postoffices for webmail virtual directory configurations.

The article you pointed out containing the information on how to set a default lanaguge within the langauge transaltion utility is outdated and will be updated.

regards,

MailEnable Support.

The document needs changing as the procedure has changed a little now the steps will be to create the default language using the translation utility and then use the ME Admin MMC to set this language as default. Providing you are using the host header web mail environment then you can select the default language at ME Admin MMC->Servers->Localhost->Services->Webmail->Right click in right hand panel and create your host headers for each site with their defaults.
If not then you can use the file in the MailEnable\Bin directory named language.tab if you remove all languages except for your new translation (which may have to be added) then the web mail will come up with the same language each time, disadvantage with this way is it looses other selections.

We are trying to set default language other than english for all domains in webmail without using host headers, as we are using Plesk 9 with MailEnable Professional 3.61.

Is this possible?

Thank you in advance.

In the administration of web mail there is a place to configure site options for virtual directories. The location of this is below;

ME Admin MMC->Servers->Localhost->Services->Webmail Properties->Site Options TAB->Configure Button.

Click on the configure button on the screen you have just shown. It will have a screen that allows configuration of web mail virtual directories, one of the columns is for language.

Thank you! I tried your system and it worked. I don't like very much because it's some kind of "hacking", but our customers are satisfied, and that's what all of us want.

Clicking that button shows a window where to install webmail as virtual directory, but no language selection:

Only place where I've seen language options is first page of WebMail config, but this setting had no effect:

I think something different is required to change default language when using Plesk, because it's not installing one virtual directory for each domain. Instead, it uses one website and redirects there.

Satisfaction is more important, isn't it? As you said that's what all of us want. Let's say it "solution" instead of hack. ;)

Have good works,

Glad to hear your issue is resolved with the information from Ahmetkemal.
Clicking that button shows a window where to install webmail as virtual directory, but no language selection:
This is a version difference between yours and the latest version of Enterprise where there are other configurable fields. Sorry for the confusion I just used the version that was in front of me at the time.
