Upgrade 1.x Pro to 8.x Standard
Upgrade 1.x Pro to 8.x Standard
Has anyone done this? If so, were there any issues? I am running older versions (Pro 1.87 and Standard 3.x) on several servers for clients and wanted to update them.

Re: Upgrade 1.x Pro to 8.x Standard
Hi,
The install/upgrade will be the same as upgrading to a newer version of standard 3.x or Pro 1.x. The upgrade should be a smooth install but you may want to do this on low traffic times or weekend to ensure you have time to troubleshoot any problems (if they arise). You can always contact support as well to help if you do have issues. Might want to back things up first.

Re: Upgrade 1.x Pro to 8.x Standard
I just tried the upgrade and it failed as you can't upgrade an older version of Pro to 8.55 Standard. I would have to uninstall the Pro first according to the message I received.
Is there any way around this error? The only reason I had pro before was for IMAP and webmail, now they are included with Standard.

Re: Upgrade 1.x Pro to 8.x Standard
Would I be able to keep the original registry settings? I run ASSP in front of ME on the same box, I had to adjust the SMTP ports and many other settings that are stored in the registry.
In the past, you could install the Pro version and if you didn't add a license key within x number of days it would revert to a standard install. Is that still possible?

Hi,
You might be able to get away with leaving it and deleting the "registration" folder within the registry. Not sure though as I haven't tried this.
Example: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Mail Enable\Mail Enable\Registration

That didn't work
Re: Upgrade 1.x Pro to 8.x Standard
according to the KB, all Pro or better features will be disabled after trial. http://www.mailenable.com/kb/content/ar ... D=me020149
Is that still the case with 8.x?

Great, I will upgrade to the latest Pro, that will make it easier if I want to downgrade to Standard.
