When sending an email, Blue Screen of Death crash occurs

SYMPTOMS

Windows Blue screen of Death

CAUSE

Some users have experienced a Windows crash (BSOD) when certain messages pass through MailEnable. The error codes are typically:

Stop 0x000000D1 or DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

The crash occurs because of a faulty network driver.

RESOLUTION

If using a Linksys network card (specifically LNE100TX) and this error occurs, try another brand to rectify the problem or source an alternate manufacturer driver.

If the system "blue screens', check the Windows Event log for indication of driver or memory problems. Specific attention should be paid to network card and IO subsystem drivers.

Check if the system is enabled to produce a memory dump. This can be determined under Control Panel->System .... Advanced tab, Startup and Recovery - ensure that the server is configured to produce a MiniDump. The Memory Dump file is saved into the following location: %SystemRoot%\Minidump. To view this file, the Windows Debugging Tools  need to be installed. Such issues can be reported through Microsoft's Online Crash Analysis web site.
