How to access web administration

SUMMARY

How to correctly setup an account to access the web administration interface.

DETAIL

If MailEnable Professional or Enterprise Edition have been installed with web administration, then the following branch will appear in the MailEnable Administration program: Servers > localhost > Services and Connectors > WebAdmin.

To make web administration accessible through IIS, either configure MailEnable to publish web administration via the web sites currently configured under IIS, or add a host header for the web administration IIS site.

Instructions for adding to an existing site:

1. In the MailEnable Administration program, navigate to Servers|localhost|Services|WebAdmin, right click and select Properties from the popup menu. The General tab will be displayed. Select the Configure.. button.

2. Select the web site that to publish Web Administration for and select "Install Web Admin for the selected site"

Web administration will be accessible via the following URL: http:\\{SiteName}\meadmin

Instructions for adding a host header:

1. In the MailEnable Administration program, navigate to Servers|localhost|Services and Connectors|WebAdmin, right click and select New->Host Header from the popup menu. You can then add the host header. Remember to add the URL you are using to your DNS.

Before a post office can be administered using web administration, it must be enabled for the post office that is to be administered. This can be done via the Administration program by right clicking on the post office and accessing the web administration properties.

For a user to log into the web administration, create (or edit) a mailbox for that user in the MailEnable Administration application, and set the mailbox as ADMIN under the properties of the mailbox in the Administration program.

Once installed, web administration can be accessed from http://DomainName/meadmin; where DomainName is the domain name, machine name, or IP address of the machine. When browsing to this location, a login screen will appear. It is also important to remember that the username is formatted as: mailboxname@postofficename (just like any MailEnable username).
