SUMMARY
Messages may be incorrectly diagnosed as viruses when performing bulk mailouts.
DETAIL
This
issue is most likely that the anti-virus scanner is not able to cope with
scanning the messages as they pass through the MTA. If using a bulk mailer, there will
be a large number of messages being scanned at once and the antivirus program may be
unable to cope. If using MailEnable's list server, it blocks messages into message
blocks of around 300 recipients, hence reducing server load.
There are two options which
may resolve this issue:
1. Reduce the
number of MTA transfer threads as outlined here: http://www.mailenable.com/kb/content/article.asp?ID=ME020236
(This will have the side effect of increasing the amount of time taken for
messages to be delivered - since the messages will be scanned at a slower rate)
2. Temporarily disable virus scanning when performing the
bulk mailout.
