What content can be purged to increase the available hard disk space?

SUMMARY

It is important to monitor the disk space used by the message store and periodically purge the store or implement a message archiving strategy.

DETAIL

It is possible to release hard disk space within the MailEnable folders are as follows:

Bad Mail - Clear out bad mail. Items can be deleted from the bad mail from within the Administration program.  The only thing to ensure here is that no valid/legitimate email has been sent to the folder.

Purge Email - Use the utility at the following link can be used to purge all email within certain folders.  It is worth alerting any customers before doing this.

Clear Logs - Log files is another way hard drive space can be used up over a period of time.  MailEnable log files are typically located in the following location: C:\Program Files\Mail Enable\Logging

Delete, backup or move any logs no longer required.

Delete Backup Files -

There are redundant files copied to the BACKUP folder when performing an upgrade to MailEnable or using the MEBACKUP utility.

Backup data is located in the following location:

C:\Program Files\Mail Enable\Backup

Delete the entire contents of this folder if needing additional space; but this will mean that backup data contained in this folder is lost. Ideally, the backup utility should be used periodically.
