Error ME-E5005 occurs when accessing or selecting a folder in web mail

SYMPTOMS

MailEnable may display error ME-E5005 when accessing or selecting a folder in webmail.

CAUSE

Error ME-E5005 typically means that there are file permission problems with the mailenable message store. These permission problems can occur if permissions are incorrectly ordered on the message store.

The issue is most likely to occur if you have MailEnable installed in conjunction with a third party control panel application.

The solution is to use explorer to ensure that the permissions on the store are correctly ordered.

RESOLUTION

  1. Using explorer, navigate to Program Files\..\Mail Enable\Postoffices and right clicking to bring up the properties of the folder.
  2. You will note that when you click on the Security tab, that a warning may be returned thatindicates that permissions are not ordered correctly.
  3. You should press OK to the warning and click the Advanced button.
  4. You should then check the option to replace permissions entries on all children and press OK.
  5. Explorer will then re-order the permissions on for the folder and its children. When the process has completed, you should then be able to access webmail without the error being reported.
