SYMPTOMS

When creating a mailbox within Plesk an error occurs.

CAUSE

When creating a mailbox using Plesk and the feature within MailEnable to enforce a password complexity policy is enabled this will be enforced.

SOLUTION

Disable the password policy and restart services or ensure that the password meets the required complexity.

You can disable the feature in the following location of the ME Admin MMC:

ME Admin MMC->Servers->Localhost (Properties)->Policies [TAB]->"Prevent simple passwords"

The complexities for the passwords when this feature is enabled are:

- passwords must be longer than 6 characters

- passwords cannot contain post office name

- password cannot contain 'password'
