SYMPTOMS
When you stop and start an instance of Microsoft Windows that MailEnable is installed on under the Amazon EC2 platform, your MailEnable license may become invalid. When a license is invalid on a server, the IMAP service stops working and attachments in webmail cease to work. Running the MailEnable administration program will indicate that the license is invalid for the server.
CAUSE
When you stop and start an instance under EC2, the machine name changes. Since the MailEnable license key is based on the machine name, it therefore becomes invalid.
SOLUTION
You can apply an updated license key to the server when the instance is stopped and started. Alternatively, configure your instance to maintain the same machine name. This can be done through the Amazon software installed at C:\Program Files\Amazon\Ec2ConfigService\Ec2ConfigServiceSettings.exe.
