How to change the MailEnable services to run as 64bit from 32bit after an upgrade to version 7

SUMMARY

This article explains how to change the MailEnable services to run as 64bit from 32bit after an upgrade to version 7 on a 64bit version of Microsoft Windows.

The same procedure can also be used to revert the services back to 32bit mode by editing the path location for the MailEnable BIN folder.

DETAIL

Version 7 Professional and Enterprise versions now allows MailEnable services to run as 64bit. However if upgrading to version 7 from an older verison of MailEnable, the upgrade will not change the services to run as 64bit and therefore requires the changes to be performed manually. The steps below explain the procedure:

  • Open a Windows command prompt (run as administrator)
  • Run the following commands:

    mesmtpc -remove
    memta -remove
    mepoc -remove
    mepops -remove
    mepopc -remove
    mehttps -remove
    melsc -remove
    meradms -remove
    meimaps -remove
mesmsc -remove     (not needed if using MailEnable Professional)

  • Next navigate to the MailEnable "BIN64" folder

    Example: cd c:\Program Files (x86)\Mail Enable\bin64

NOTE: If changing the services to run as 32bit mode from 64bit mode then navigate to the MailEnable BIN folder.

  • Run the following commands:

    mesmtpc -install
    memta -install
    mepoc -install
    mepops -install
    mepopc -install
    mehttps -install
    melsc -install
    meradms -install
    meimaps -install
mesmsc -install    (not needed if using MailEnable Professional)
