How to stop clients from being able to send "Out of Office" notifications when using the MAPI Connector for Microsoft Outlook

SUMMARY

This article explains the workaround to disable the ability for clients to be able to send "Out of Office" notifications.

DETAIL

How to disable auto responders for all clients:

  1. Navigate within the administration console to: Servers > localhost > Services and Connectors > Postoffice
  2. Right click on "Postoffice" and select properties
  3. Under the "General" tab untick the check box for "Autoresponders Enabled"
  4. Restart the Postoffice connector.

MORE INFORMATION

Administrators may want to prevent clients from being able to send Out of Office notifications if a client enables them via the MAPI Connector. The only way to achieve this is by disabling the auto responder option on the server for all clients. This will not have any effect on the MAPI Connector toolbar and will still show the Out of Office icon. However the auto response will never be generated by the server.
