Invalid PATH Environment Variable error reported in diagnostic utility

SYMPTOMS

MailEnable's Diagnostic Utility may report the following error:

Invalid - Please ensure the MailEnable BIN directory is in your PATH statement

CAUSE

Incorrect or missing path for MailEnable bin/bin64 folders in the PATH environment variable.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, please follow these steps:

  • Go to Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Computer Management.
  • The Computer Management applet should now be loaded.
  • Right click on Computer Management (Local) and select Properties.
  • Then click on the Advanced tab. Click on the Environment Variables button.
  • In the System Variables list, scroll down until you find the "Path" environment variable, then highlight it and click Edit.
  • The Path environment variable should contain a semi-colon delimited list of directory names.
  • Ensure that that the short path (8.3) equivalent of C:\Program Files (x86)\Mail Enable\Bin or its equivalent (depending on the installation path appears in this list).
  • Also ensure that the C:\Program Files (x86)\Mail Enable\Bin64 is in the list. If bin64 is not in the PATH variable, then webmail may be affected.
  • Accept all changes and close the Computer Management Applet.
  • A reboot of the server is required for any changes to take effect.
