The following error needs to be rectified: MailEnable WebMail - MTS/COM+ MEWebMail.Features Error (-2147467238) 006~ASP 0177~Server.CreateObject Failed~8000401a.

Running the MailEnable Installation (MEInstaller) program fixes the problem temporarily, but eventually the same error message appears.

CAUSE

This issue may occur where the server running MailEnable is a Windows Domain Controller or a member server in a Windows Domain. In this environment, Windows group policy settings may make system changes that cause MailEnable to stop functioning.

A strict group policy may have been defined for your server or domain users.  This could cause access rights to be removed or passwords to expire.

Running the MEInstaller application sets up the permissions as they should be; but the rights/permissions will be adjusted according to the Windows group policy and web mail/web administration will stop functioning. 

It is also possible that the IME_ADMIN account (or group policy settings) is enforcing password changes and this is causing MailEnable to stop functioning.

RESOLUTION

This problem can be diagnosed by using the MEInstaller to set the IME_ADMIN password to a known password; and then, once the problem occurs, attempt to login using that username or password.
