MailEnable Mobile Connectivity
The increased popularity and technology advancement of smartphones has changed the way people look at their
mobile phones. Rather than storing contacts, appointments, tasks, etc. on the mobile phone, users want their data
in cloud storage so they can access it from anywhere on any device.
MailEnable allows mobile phone users to do this via
ActiveSync,
SyncML and
DAV-based solutions. Modern phones and tablets can be used to access and update contacts and schedules
via the device over the mobile network. The technologies used to do this are outlined below.
Exchange ActiveSync for MailEnable
Exchange ActiveSync for MailEnable
ActiveSync provides the highest level of integration for the latest mobile devices including iPhone/iPad, Android and Windows Phone 7.
It is also available on most other mobile platforms.
ActiveSync is able to negotiate changes and updates protocol uses a technology that is often referred to as "Push". The "push" technology
means that changes made on the mobile device are synchronized with the MailEnable server (and vice-versa) without requiring polling.
ActiveSync is also a very efficient protocol and minimizes the amount of data that is sent over the mobile network.
Exchange ActiveSync for MailEnable is licensed per mailbox per annum.

Synchronizing Contacts/Tasks/Calendars with Mobile Devices (SyncML Support)
SyncML allows the synchronization of MailEnable calendar, tasks and contacts with mobile devices (phones, PDAs and Outlook).
The SyncML server detects changes made to your contacts and prepares the updates for transmission to SyncML clients.
Likewise, changes made on your SyncML device are transacted to the server. MailEnable communicates with mobile devices via
WBXML encapsulation, which reduces bandwidth and is supported by leading mobile handset providers.
Synchronization via SyncML
Mobile Webmail
MailEnable includes a Mobile Webmail client designed exclusively for smartphones and tablets. The Mobile Webmail client is
light-weight and supports swipe scrolling.
The mobile client also allows you to automatically login, so you can access your inbox and contacts quickly. You can also tile the screens so they
are readily available on your mobile device.
Mobile Webmail Tasks & Calendaring
MailEnable includes a compact Mobile version of the Webmail client which support for Tasks and Calendaring.
Device Aware
Webmail is device aware and will provide Apple users with a link to configure the inbuilt device mail and collaboration client features.
When an iPhone user attempts to access Webmail, an icon is provided within the Webmail client to automatically configure the iPhone's mail, calendar, tasks and contacts capabilities.
Accessing Server-Side Calendars from Mobile Devices (CalDAV Support)
CalDAV allows leading email clients and mobile devices (including the Apple iPhone), to access MailEnable mailbox calendars.
CalDAV is ideal for mobile users who wish to access and update their calendar in real time.
To configure CalDAV, the client is configured with a URL to point to the server calendar. It is also possible to configure CalDAV
to access another user's calendar by specifying their calendar address in the URL. MailEnable Synchronization Service is responsible
for providing CalDAV connectivity to MailEnable mailboxes over the HTTP protocol.

Synchronization via CardDAV
Accessing Server-Side Contacts from Mobile Devices (CardDAV Support)
CardDAV allows mobile devices to remotely access and manage contacts stored on the MailEnable server. Changes made to the contacts
stored on the mobile device are automatically sent to the server; and changes made on the server are received and updated on the mobile device.
CardDAV is ideal for mobile users who wish to access and update their contacts in real time via their mobile device. MailEnable
Synchronization Service is responsible for providing CardDAV connectivity to MailEnable mailboxes over the HTTP protocol.
Accessing Cloud Storage/MyFiles (WebDAV Support)
It is now possible to use MailEnable as a cloud storage provider. Mailbox owners are able to access their "My Files" folder as a
network drive over the WebDAV protocol.
Mailbox owners can store photos and documents from their computer or phone (using products like NetDrive and other WebDAV
clients). For example, a person can take a photo with their iPhone and immediately save it to MyFiles.
Cloud Storage (WebDAV Support)
Automated Account Creation on Apple Devices
MailEnable also provides "one-click" configuration for Apple iOS devices. Setting up an iPhone account is now automated whether you are using Exchange ActiveSync or CalDAV / CardDAV / IMAP.
This feature means that mail users can now configure their iOS device with CalDAV / CardDAV / IMAP as a single service, simply by clicking on a link within Webmail or Mobile Webmail.
Administrators can also provide a link for Apple users to click on which will automatically configure their device.
Mobile Management & Administration
MailEnable Enterprise Premium now includes a Mobile Web Administration client.
The client automatically detects connections on a mobile device and allows the user to access a cutdown and streamlined version of MailEnable's Web Administration.
This means that system administrators can review the health of their server and execute simple management tasks on their mobile devices.
